Teddy On The Town: The Food Edition

We get inquiries all the time about where to eat in downtown Huntsville – whether it’s visitors from out of town wanting a great cool lunch spot or clients that have lived here all their life but don’t get downtown to dine much and interesting in trying out a new place. As more and more fun and exciting eateries are opening downtown, we wanted to highlight a few of our personal favorites (both those that have been serving the community for years and those newcomers that just popped up on the scene) making sure you know about all the amazing places to dine downtown.

BREAKFAST

Honest Coffee Roasters: Honest Coffee Roasters came on the scene not long after we opened ourselves, and we have been enjoying their amazing brews ever since. Over the past year and a half, they’ve really refined and added to their breakfast menu. Whether you are looking for a power packed acai bowl after a big workout or a delicious sausage, egg and cheese biscuit to get your day started, they have you covered.

Another Broken Egg: Yes, ABE is opening a new location downtown! We’ve all enjoyed their other locations in town for years, but now we don’t have to travel that far for one of the best breakfasts in town. Opening next week at Twickenham Square, be sure to check them out and welcome them to downtown!

LUNCH

Domaine South: If you haven’t heard yet, Domaine South recently moved into their new space right on the square. Literally right behind us, we love popping in for one of their yummy sandwiches or fresh salads (might we recommend the roast beef or farmer’s market pressed sandwich).

Commerce Kitchen: If you are looking for a delicious upscale southern lunch, definitely look no further than Commerce Kitchen. We love the atmosphere for those days we can get out of the shop, sit and enjoy a relaxing lunch!

Big Oh’s: Some of the best Korean food in town is right here in downtown Huntsville. If you haven’t tried Big Oh’s, you’ve got to give them a try (might we recommend the spicy pork and for first-timers either the bibimbap or bulgogi).

Taco Mama: When we are feeling like spicing things up for lunch, Taco Mama is at the top of the list. We especially love their burrito bowls and have a hard time resisting their margaritas (we do reserve those though for after hours, however, no judgement here!)

Oshi: If you like Sushi, you will love Oshi! And, if you haven’t ever had the opportunity to enjoy a Poke bowl, definitely consider letting your creative side loose and create a build-your-own bowl (it’s not only good but you you feel super healthy…win/win!)

DINNER

Cotton Row: Chef Jimmy Boyce definitely set the bar high for downtown dining when Cotton Row opened a decade ago. They continue to please with amazing dishes and superb service. Might we add if you haven’t had an opportunity to dine in the cellar, think about reserving it the next time you have a special dinner party or occasion to celebrate.

Purveyor: The newest upscale dining option to hit downtown, Purveyor doesn’t disappoint! Chef Rene Boyzo knows how to create a unique dish that is sure to please the palette. We especially love the ahi tuna tacos or drunken guacamole as an appetizer and then roll right into the ribeye or fish special!

The Bottle: Another staple of downtown dining, The Bottle offers a great atmosphere for not only a special night out on the town but also the perfect setting for those business associates visiting town. For a fun night out, we love sitting in the corner booth of the bar area as it’s the perfect spot to people watch and take in all the happenings going on in the area on a Friday or Saturday evening.

QUICK FIX

(okay, let’s face it we all need an afternoon pick-me-up now and again)

Frios Pops: Since they are right next door, we definitely enjoy an afternoon popsicle now and again (more often than we’d probably like to admit).

Sam & Greg’s: Their gelato is the real deal in our book. Another great afternoon pick-me-up right in our back yard!
